Setting Goals In Your Recovery
~"Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off of your goal" ~
Think postive when you begin setting goals as goals are always things we want!
There are three types of goals; short term, intermediate and long term.
You may want to begin by listing your goals and writing the time frame
In which you would like to reach each individual goal in. Also, write what types of
Obstacles you might run into when attempting to acheive your goals. Are your goals
Realistic? What steps might you have to take to reach your goals?
If you are just starting out in your recovery, you may first want to focus
On your short term goals. Many new to recovery begin by setting their first
Goal as the goal not to use or drink. This is a goal that you may have to work
On achieving on an hour to hour basis. Once you move forward in your recovery
And the urges lesson, you may then want to consider working towards your
Intermediate goals. An example of an intermediate goal might be to work on
Your past issues or something like learning how to budget your finances.
It may take some time for you to work towards achieving your long term goals,
As you might have many other things to focus on in your recovery first.
That all depends on you and what your goal is. Perhaps, your intermediate
Goals are helping you to work your way towards achieving your long term goals.
An example of a long term goal might be to further your education. It is
Important to stay focused when taking steps towards achieving your goals.
Reflect on your journal reminding yourself of the goals you set and time
Frames you set to acheive your goals in.
